Full product description

Sulphur is used to raise the acidity (lower pH) of a soil. In extremely alkaline soils, it is more economical to use sulphur in addition to naturally acidic mulch (eg pine needles or shavings). This will help to lower pH – but quite gradually. To lower the pH of the top 100mm of soil use sulphur: Sand 30gms/m2, Loam 60gms/m2 and Clay 80gms/m2.

Note that it will take some weeks to take effect. Sulphur can have a detrimental effect of beneficial soil fungi, so it is best used in conjunction with organic gardening practices to restore healthy soil biology. Chelated Iron can also be used to lower soil pH.
