Full product description
Sagittaria subulata – Dwarf Sagittaria
Sagittaria subulata, commonly known as Dwarf Sagittaria, is a versatile and easy-to-grow aquatic plant perfect for creating lush foreground and midground greenery in freshwater aquariums. Native to the shallow waters and marshlands of North and South America, this hardy species adapts well to a wide range of tank conditions, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced aquascapers.
Dwarf Sagittaria features slender, grass-like leaves that form compact, bright green clusters. When provided with nutrient-rich substrate, moderate lighting, and stable water parameters, it spreads quickly through runners, creating a natural, meadow-like carpet. In lower light, the plant may grow slightly taller, making it suitable for midground placement, while in higher light it remains short and dense for a classic carpeting effect.
Known for its resilience and low maintenance needs, Sagittaria subulata thrives without CO₂ injection, though additional CO₂ and regular fertilisation will enhance growth rates and colour vibrancy. Its dense foliage provides excellent shelter for shrimp and small fish, contributing to a healthy, natural tank ecosystem.
Whether used as a soft carpeting plant or a flowing midground accent, Dwarf Sagittaria offers reliability, beauty, and effortless aquascaping potential in any freshwater setup.
