Orchiata Bark No5 9-12mm (Orchids, Aroids, Bromeliads)
$55.00 inc. GST
We asked our rare plant lovers, what is another fabulous product that you would like us to stock? What we heard back was Orchiata Bark! The bark is 100% pure and enhanced with calcium-rich dolomite, which is a critical nutrient for preventing bud drop, staving off fungal infections, and promoting proper cell development in new plant tissue.
Orchiata Bark stands out for its longevity and consistency, New Zealand Pinus radiata is a very thick, much harder and structurally sound material which forms a rounder nugget. This reduces the need for frequent repotting and offering cost savings over time. Bark from other countries may consist of fir or other pine that is not as hard and may delaminate when it is processed. As other barks are not as structurally hard, they do not last very long in the pot and can cause water, nutrient and pathogen problems.
It’s sustainable production and endorsement by professional growers make it a trusted choice for ensuring vibrant, thriving plants!
Although local bark may be cheaper, you are likely to have more management issues with this material and lower quality plants.
Oh & it is worth mentioning, that often you will see a fine whitish grey layer of fungi on Orchiata when you open the bag. These are most likely Penicillium or Paecilomyces. These are not detrimental to your plants; they are often beneficial as they help to prevent the colonisation of pathogenic fungi.
