Full product description
Horticultural Lime (Dolomite Lime) | Richo’s 4 Hydros
Horticultural Lime (Dolomite Lime) is a premium soil amendment designed to raise soil pH, improve nutrient availability, and strengthen plant health across all growing systems. Whether you’re working with garden beds, living soil, or hydroponic substrates, maintaining the correct pH is critical—and this is where lime becomes essential.
Why Use Horticultural Lime?
When soil becomes too acidic, essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus become locked out, leading to poor plant growth, yellowing leaves, and reduced yields. Horticultural lime works by neutralising excess acidity, bringing your soil back into the optimal pH range (6.0–7.0), where plants thrive.
Dolomite lime also provides a natural source of:
- Calcium – supports strong cell walls and root development
- Magnesium – essential for chlorophyll production and photosynthesis
By correcting pH and supplying these key elements, horticultural lime helps plants grow stronger, healthier, and more resilient.
How to Use Horticultural Lime
- Apply 100–400g per m² depending on soil type:
- Sandy soil: ~100g/m²
- Loam: ~200g/m²
- Clay: 300–400g/m²
- Mix into soil before planting, or top dress and water in
- Best applied gradually over time rather than in one heavy dose
- Always test soil pH before application for best results
Where It Works Best
- Garden beds with acidic soil
- Living soil systems needing pH stabilisation
- Vegetable gardens and fruiting plants
- Cannabis cultivation (prevents nutrient lockout)
- Soil remediation and rebalancing
